The English department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette features many ongoing writing activities.
  • The creative writing department hosts the annual Deep South Festival of Writers, one of the oldest and most prestigious conferences of its kind in the United States. Activities at the festival include public performances, panel discussions, craft lectures, exhibitions, and writing workshops.
  • Student-generated writing can be found in the University's Southwestern Review. Graduate and undergraduate Creative Writing students edit this in-house literary journal. Submissions from faculty and students include poetry, short fiction, non-fiction, and drama. The volumes are illustrated by students' artwork.
