Chris Healy’s current research is a continuation of his dissertation, “The ‘Minor’ Poet and the Major Editor: A Case Study in Canon Construction,” examining the fifteenth-century poet Thomas Hoccleve’s status outside the canon and how the textual tradition of his works has affected the poet’s reputation. In addition, Dr. Healy is looking at the ways the autobiographical material in Hoccleve’s poetry has been used to perpetuate the poet’s unfavorable reception. Dr. Healy has written several contributions to the forthcoming Chaucer Encyclopedia.
