Thursday Night Reading Series

The Thursday Night Reading Series is a UL Lafayette institution: run entirely by graduate students and featuring the work of our own students and faculty as well as community members, the series brings together people from all areas of the de-partment and community. We spoke with Alice Wilson (MA), one of this semester’s organizers along with Bilal Khan (PhD).

“I’ve really enjoyed seeing it grow into an outlet for creativity not only for our Graduate Community but also for members of our Lafayette community,” Alice tells us. “I believe TNRS has given students and locals the opportunity to broaden their perspectives on what creative writing can look and sound like and make meaningful connections outside their typical respective spheres.” Alice has organized TNRS for three semesters, but as they graduate this semester, says, “I hope this sentiment carries on to create a safe space for our students’ and locals’ creativity.”

TNRS is also a great place to meet with students and faculty in a casual setting. For dates, times, and locations this semes-ter, see the last page of this newsletter, or follow TNRS on Instagram, @thursdaynightreading. Hope to see you there! — Leah Orr
