The Studio
Mission
The Studio serves as a 21st-century lab and small-group workspace for UL students in the English Department to learn, create, prosper, and transition from student to professional. Students can work on and complete solo or collaborative projects for clients, including local non-profits and UL programs, with the guidance of a faculty mentor.
Who Uses The Studio
- English Department graduate students working on publications, creating media for recruitment, or teaching online courses
- English majors in Professional Design Studio courses (ENGL 480 and 481)
- Student editors and designers working on journals affiliated with the English Department, including Rougarou and the Southwestern Review
- Moving Image Arts students in advanced editing and production classes
Purpose
The Studio promotes professional development, active learning, and collaboration and offers an opportunity for students to develop, design, and edit professional writing projects, video, and multimedia content. The shared contemporary workspace is ideal for digital publishing, document design, video editing, professional writing, and online education.
